Sumner LaRue Tone cemetery deed
The archives include a deed for cemetery plots owned by Sumner Larue Tone (1864-1942). It's a lot of legalese but the details are:
- Purchased May 9 1927
- Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA
- Section 17, lot 42
- Witnessed by Katharine Spofford Tone (1904-1983)
To be used by:
My own body S. L. Tone. My brother in law, J. F. Torrence, and his wife Helen. My descendants, their Husband's or wives as long as there is room. J. P. Torrence Jr. and his wife if they so desire. Such other persons as during my life I may hereafter designate.

- No other Tones or Torrences at that cemetery.
A handwritten note is attached to the deed:

May 9 1927. Lot endowed, and cemetery association is annually to
- Care for the sod on the Lot;
- Wash all stone work once each year;
- Place a box of growing plants on each lot each year;
- Make a bed and plant with flowering plants each year;
- Place a wreath on the Lot for Dec 25th each year.
